Shirley Thomas
Shirley Thomas, 76, Bourbon, passed away peacefully in her home with church family at her side.
Shirley was born the daughter of August and Alice Winquist, July 11, 1944, in Niles, Mich. On Sept. 7, 1991, she married Terry Thomas who she shared over twenty years of faithful marriage until his passing in 2010.
Shirley was a very faithful member of Bourbon United Pentecostal Church. The congregation was her family. She was a baby sitter and nanny for a family in Elkhart for many years as well as helping serve meals at REAL Services in Bourbon everyday that she was able. Her enjoyment came from baking cakes and decorating them. Shirley has a sense of humor and loved flowers and the Hallmark movies. She was also known for her cookies and cherry cheesecake at the annual bazaar of her church.
Survivors include her wonderful church family, sister Mary Seaman, brother Robert Winquist, nephew Charles Johnson and cousin Jane Zwienink. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Dorothy Hill and brothers, John, Cecil and Paul Winquist.
Friends may gather at Bourbon United Pentecostal Church on Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m. with a service following. Pastor Matt Cottrill and Bishop Mark Cottrill will be officiating. Burial will be in Parks cemetery.
In keeping with current Covid19 regulations masks will be required as well as social distancing.
