Eleanor Stiffler Hillery — UPDATED
Eleanor (Mathews) Stiffler Hillery, 93, New Paris, went to her eternal heavenly home at 2:02 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, after a brief illness at Goshen Hospital. She was born on Sept. 26, 1926, in New Paris, In to Lloyd and Cecelia (Arnold) Mathews.
She graduated from New Paris High School and was a lifetime New Paris and Syracuse area resident. She retired from G.T.I. in Leesburg after 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Stiffler of New Paris; her son, Robert “Bob” (Joy) Stiffler of North Manchester; two grandchildren: Jamie (Gwenda) Stiffler of Guam and Jodi (Jason) Rhoades of Pierceton; nine great grandchildren: Alex and Jake Rhoades, Chase, Wyatt, Derek, Brady, Zoey, Emmett, and Elijah Stiffler; sister-in-law: Mary Alice Mathews of Elkhart; nephews: Dana (Susan) Mathews, Steve (Marilyn) Mathews, Bruce (Linda) Mathews, and Howie (Tracy) Mathews; great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother – Howard Mathews.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Services will be held at a later date. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse is in charge of arrangements.
