Claypool
Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 10:20 p.m. Saturday, July 4, West CR 500S, east of South CR 700W, Burket. Driver: Fred A. Vining, 67, West CR 525S, Claypool. Vining was traveling east on CR 500S when a deer entered the roadway. Damages under $1,001.
- 6:40 p.m. Friday, July 3, West Old Road 30, north of North CR 875W, Etna Green. Drivers: Kyle T. Michaelson, 29, North CR 950W, Etna Green; and Arminda E. Chapman Drei, 20, 12th Road, Bourbon. Michaelson was traveling north on CR 875W when he stopped at a stop sign, then proceeded north across Old Road 30. He did not notice Drei’s vehicle traveling west on Old Road 30, which caused a collision. Dress’s vehicle slid into a steel yard post. Drei was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth for possible chest and shoulder injuries. Michaelson complained of left hip and knee pain but refused treatment at the scene. Damages up to $25,000.
- 5:18 p.m. Thursday, July 2, East CR 600S, west of South CR 400E, Warsaw. Drivers: Joan K. Wells, 62, West SR 16, Roann; and Timothy J. Fox, 40, West Main Street, North Manchester. Wells was traveling west on CR 600S and stopped at a stop sign for west bound traffic. She did not notice Fox’s vehicle traveling north on CR 400E and entered Fox’s way of travel. The impact caused Fox’s vehicle to spin and roll onto its side. Wells complained of left shoulder pain. A passenger in Fox’s vehicle, Evyn Fox, 14, North Manchester, complained of general pain due to the accident. No one was taken from the scene to a hospital. Damages up to $25,000.
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 10:51 a.m. Sunday, July 5, South SR 15, south of West CR 300S, Warsaw. Driver: Corinna Mickelson, 55, South Woodland Hills Drive East, Warsaw. Mickelson was traveling south on SR 15 when her vehicle left the roadway, striking three separate utility poles. Mickelson sustained a head abrasion in the accident but refused medical treatment at the scene. Damages up to $25,000.
- 3 a.m. Sunday, July 5, South SR 19, near West CR 100S, Etna Green. Driver: Amanda L. Ousley, 28, South Powell Street, Macy. Ousley was traveling north on SR 19 when a raccoon entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
- 11:41 p.m. Saturday, July 4, North East Wawasee Drive, near East CR 1250N, Syracuse. Drivers: Joshua J. Housman, 35, North Honeycomb Lane, Cromwell; and Adam L. Busby, 20, Pioneer Trails Drive, Seven Springs, N.C. Housman was preparing to turn south when he pulled out in front of Busby’s vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damages up to $10,000.
- 10:27 p.m. Saturday, July 4, North CR 500E, south of East CR 1000N, Syracuse. Drivers: Tanesha A. Rhoades, 30, Ogden Nash Way, Sacramento, Calif.; and Grace E. Campbell, 16, North Woodland Acres Drive, Syracuse. Campbell was traveling north on North CR 500E when a raccoon entered the roadway. As Campbell applied her brakes, Rhoades’ vehicle rear-ended hers. A passenger in Campbell’s vehicle, Julis J. Gordon, 18, Warsaw, complained of neck pain but signed off on medical treatment. Damages up to $10,000.
- 9:57 p.m. Saturday, July 4, East US 30, west of South CR 450E, Warsaw. Driver: Rabe Yar, 27, Gladstone Drive, Fort Wayne. Yar was traveling east on US 30 when a dog entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
- 9:09 a.m. Saturday, July 4, South SR 13, north of East CR 360S, Pierceton. Driver: Patricia S. Serrano Yuzon, 26, East Backwater Road, North Webster. Yuzon fell asleep prior to the crash. Her vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment, becoming airborne and flipping one time before landing on its roof. Yuzon complained of head and abdominal pain and was taken by medics to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damages up to $25,000.
- 5:24 a.m. Saturday, July 4, East CR 600S, near South CR 525E, Warsaw. Driver: Robert R. Sherman, 24, North James Street 11, Milford. Sherman was traveling east on CR 600S when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.
- 9:59 p.m. Friday, July 3, South SR 25, west of South Bruner Road, Warsaw. Driver: Sally A. Peterson, 50, North Yale Street, Mentone. Peterson was traveling east on SR 25 when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
- 5:57 p.m. Friday, July 3, East US 30, east of South CR 450E, Warsaw. Driver: Della L. Jennings, 46, Commonwealth Drive, Westerville, Ohio. Jennings was traveling west on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $10,000.
- 5:50 a.m. Friday, July 3, East Backwater Road, near EMS W29 Lane, North Webster. Driver: Brandon J. Williams, 27, East Portside Drive, Warsaw. Williams was traveling east on Backwater Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $10,000.
- 4:53 a.m. Friday, July 3, East Kosciusko Drive, west of North CR 175E, Warsaw. Driver: Everardo A. Cacahua, 27, East CR 200N 205, Warsaw. Cacahua was traveling west on North Kosciusko Drive when his vehicle left the roadway, entering a back yard, causing damage to the yard and rocks on an embankment. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damages up to $10,000.
- 1:09 p.m. Thursday, July 2, North SR 15, north of West CR 1350N, Milford. Drivers: Francis Korenstra, 88, South Harkless Drive, Syracuse; and Gianna M. Hochstetler, 23, North Harper Road, Leesburg. Korenstra was traveling east on CR 1350N when he failed to yield the right-of-way to Hochstetler’s vehicle, causing a collision. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damages up to $25,000.
- 5:14 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, East US 30, west of South CR 325E, Warsaw. Driver: Christle M. McCrea, 39, River Bluff Drive, Columbia City. McCrea was traveling west on US 30 when her vehicle struck a tire-like object in the roadway. Damages up to $1,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 12:44 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 4987 N. SR 13, North Webster. Drivers: Bonnie J. Fitzpatrick, 71, EMS B6 Lane, Leesburg; and James B. Thomas, 47, North CR 700E, Leesburg. Both Fitzpatrick and Thomas were backing their vehicles out of parking spaces when they struck one another. Damages up to $2,500.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 4:20 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 202 E. Medusa St., Syracuse. Driver: Ashley M. Brunt, 36, East Beardsley Avenue, Elkhart. The trailer on Brunt’s vehicle struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 12:18 p.m. Sunday, July 5, US 30, near CR 450E, Warsaw. Driver: Delos J. Kruithof, 28, George Street 606, Logansport. Kruithof was traveling west on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.
- 12:49 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 1123 Brubaker St., Warsaw. Driver: unknown. A vehicle registered to Shanna R. Claar, Warsaw, was parked and unoccupied when it sustained damage. The driver who caused the damage left the scene. Damages up to $2,500.
- 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, East Winona Avenue, near North Bay Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Phomma J. Nakasen, 38, North Algonquin Drive, Syracuse. Nakasen was leaving a parking lot via motorcycle when the vehicle slid out from underneath him. Nakasen sustained minor elbow and lower arm injuries and was treated at the scene. Damages up to $10,000.
- 1:49 p.m. Thursday, July 2, US 30, near Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Lexus R. Lipscomb, 22, South Porter Street, Michigan City; Noah J. Reichert, 18, River Ridge Road, Tippecanoe; and Danielle V. Kates, 20, Peachtree Lane, Northbrook, Ill. Lipscomb was traveling east on US 30 when she rear-ended Reichert’s vehicle. This caused Reichert’s vehicle to rear-end Kates’ vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damages up to $50,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 7:08 p.m. Thursday, July 2, Pierceton Road, west of Wade Road, Winona Lake. Driver: Ryan S. Ramsey, 39, William Drive, Winona Lake. Ramsey was traveling west on Pierceton Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
- 5:01 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, Wooster Road, near CR 250E, Winona Lake. Drivers: Patricia Jiminiz-Vazquez, 44, East Wooster Road 52, Pierceton; and Carla J. Wintrode, 63, West CR 100N, Huntington. Jiminiz-Vazquez was traveling east on Wooster Road and stopped at a stop sign. She then proceeded into the intersection, striking Wintrode’s vehicle. A witness said Wintrode’s vehicle had the right-of-way at the intersection. Damages up to $25,000.
