WARSAW — Justin Beer, Milford, and Brittany Duncan, Silver, Lake, were awarded the title of Kosciusko County 4-H King and Queen Friday, July 3.

For the first time in the history of the 4-H Royalty competition, there were co-princesses. This year’s honor went to Sarah Juillerat and her twin sister, Katie Juillerat, Larwill. The prince is Travis McCoy, Etna Green.

“I was really happy and I’m excited to see what this fair holds,” said Duncan. “I’m excited to see what happens and how it goes.”

Duncan is going to try to share her positivity on everyone, even though it is going to be difficult due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Beer, a teen of few words, admitted he was a little surprised and happy to have the honor bestowed upon him. “There was only two. I had a pretty good chance,” he stated. “I’m glad we get to exhibit our animals. A lot of kids don’t get that opportunity.”

The winners gathered Friday morning to receive their crowns, sashes, T-shirts and plaques. They also received a list of expectations and details of when they can attend the 4-H livestock shows next week.

Beer, the son of Marc and Jodi Beer, will be a senior at Wawasee High School in the fall. He has been a 4-H’er for nine years and a member of the Milford Helping Hands, where he has served as vice president and treasurer. During his 4-H tenure, he has shown dairy calf feeder steers, dairy steers, sheep, swine and welding. His future plans are to attend college in the agriculture field.

Duncan, the daughter of Linda and Chuck Duncan, will be a senior at Warsaw Community High School in the fall. She has been a 4-H’er for eight years with the Silver Lake Rambling Farmers. She has held such 4-H offices as vice president, secretary and health advisor. The projects she has taken include rabbits, ducks, turkey, recycling, create with a mix and more. She plans to attend Purdue or Ball State to major in zoology/biology.

McCoy is the son of Travis and Tabitha McCoy and a member of the 4-H Horse and Pony Club. He will be a senior at Triton High School in the fall. During his nine years in 4-H he has shown horses and was the club’s treasurer for 2019-20. He plans to become a conservation officer.

The Juillerats are daughters of Steven and Zina Juillerat and graduated from Columbia City High School. Both are 10-year 4-H’ers and members of the Junior Neighbors 4-H Club.

Katherine Juillerat has held such 4-H offices as vice president, secretary, health officer and recreation leader. Her 4-H projects have included cake decorating, electric, fine arts, gift wrapping, shooting sports, poultry, collections, farm toy scene, miscellaneous crafts, woodworking, dog poster, geology, photography and Junior Leaders. She plans to attend Huntington University to become a veterinary technologist.

Sarah Juillerat has held such 4-H offices as president, vice president, secretary, health officer and recreation leader. Her 4-H projects have included cake decorating, electric, fine arts, gift wrapping, shooting sports, poultry, collections, farm toy scene, miscellaneous crafts, woodworking, dog poster, geology, photography and Junior Leaders. She plans to attend Purdue University for horticulture.
