High-Speed Pursuit Leads To Arrest Of Two
Press Release
PERU — A high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended in Marshall County led to the arrest of two people.
Shacarla M. Williams, 19, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Dante Bishop, 22, South Bend, were both arrested in the pursuit. Williams was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail to face criminal charges for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and reckless driving. Bishop was taken to the LaPorte County Jail. He had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear on a larceny charge.
At about 10:07 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, Indiana State Police Trooper Dakota Anderson was monitoring traffic on US 31 when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2020 Toyota near Miami CR 1050S. The Toyota was allegedly traveling 95 miles per hour in a posted 60 miles per hour zone. The driver of the Toyota, later identified as Williams, failed to stop and led the trooper on an approximately 23-minute pursuit. The chase ended when Williams’ vehicle stopped after hitting two sets of stop sticks on US 31 near US 30 in Marshall County.
Further investigation revealed that Bishop, a passenger in the Toyota, was wanted on an active warrant from LaPorte County. Williams, who is pregnant, complained of pain. She was checked and cleared by a local hospital prior to being taken to the Miami County Jail.
Anderson was assisted in the investigation by Trooper Kyle Miller, Trooper Derek Rine, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and the Plymouth Police Department.
