Protest Scheduled For Thursday At Courthouse
Staff Report
WARSAW — A protest supporting the Black Lives Matter movement will happen from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, outside of the Kosciusko County Courthouse.
Ofelia Rios and Maria Medina, the hosts of the May 30 and June 3 protests, are in charge of Thursday’s event, according to posts by both women on Facebook.
This is the fourth local event related to the movement. The protests are in response to the death of George Floyd, an unarmed African-American man who died in police custody after a white policeman kneeled on his neck for nine minutes.
The first protest on May 30 was held at Central Park. More than 300 people attended the June 3 protest, with many locals sharing stories about racial injustices.
On June 9, an event in Winona Lake supporting the Black Lives Movement focused on calls to action.
