SYRACUSE – Wawasee will continue its annual tradition in hosting the Wawasee Warrior Open golf outing.
The event, which will be limited to one shotgun start of 1 p.m., is set for Monday, July 6, at Maxwelton Golf Club in Syracuse.
Entry fee is $300 per team of four, which includes greens fees and a lunch which begins at 11:30 a.m. at Maxwelton.
As with everything in 2020 and the pandemic, there will be some minor changes to the usual format of the event. The first of which is utilizing only one shotgun start. The second is the athletic department will not be seeking sponsors for the outing. While this is always the largest fundraiser for the department, Wawasee feels it is in the best interest of the community to not solicit donations.
As a small thank you, all of the 2019 Warrior Open sponsor signs will be used for the 2020 event. Athletic director Cory Schutz and his staff want to express their gratitude for the support of the community, and understands that 2020 has been tough on many of the businesses in the Wawasee community.
There are contest packages available to players, including $10,000 cash sponsored by Northern Lakes Insurance, a 2020 vehicle sponsored by McCormick Motors, along with a variety of door prizes and other giveaways.
Registration forms to participate in the 26th annual Warrior Open can be found at wawaseeathletics.com, in the main office at Wawasee High School, or by emailing Schutz at [email protected]. Completed forms may be mailed to the school at #1 Warrior Path, Building #1, Syracuse, IN 46567. Deadline for team entry is Friday, July 3.
