WARSAW — One man was flown to an area hospital after a rear-end vehicle accident involving two semis on US 30.
At about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, Lutheran EMS and Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory were called to the area of US 30, east of CR 250E, in the westbound lanes of traffic, where two semis were involved in an accident.
Winona Lake Fire Department was called for a tanker assist due to one of the vehicles being on fire.
Major extrication was required to remove one of the semi drivers from his vehicle. The semi that the driver was extricated from contained large concrete slabs. Firefighters worked to remove the slabs from the front of the truck before they were able to remove the driver. He was then flown by Lutheran Air III to an area hospital.
Westbound traffic was backed up for nearly two miles.
Plain Township Fire Department and North Webster Fire Department were called for manpower assistance with extrication.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
