Warsaw Man Accused In Battery

WARSAW – A Warsaw man was arrested recently after an alleged assault.
Curtis Brandt DeTurk, 27, 3230 E. Old Colony Road, Warsaw, is charged with battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on May 8, in reference to domestic battery. Upon arriving, police found a man laying down in the house with a bloody lip and having difficulty breathing. DeTurk was outside of the residence talking about the dispute.
DeTurk went to the residence and requested to spend the night which was allowed. Later, DeTurk woke the man and another woman, who no longer wanted him in the house after being woke up.
A verbal altercation took place after they asked him to leave. It then turned physical when he pushed the woman, causing the other man involved to step in. DeTurk then started punching and pushing the man.
After officers arrived and took DeTurk into custody, they found a plastic jar containing marijuana residue, and a metal smoking device that smelt of burnt marijuana in his belongings.
DeTurk was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 27.
