Winona Lake Outlines Updated Park Re-Opening Plan

WINONA LAKE – The Winona Lake’s Park Department continues to urge people to practice social distancing, but is outlining plans to reopen its amenities.
The following looks at upcoming changes begining with the Gov. Eric Holcomb’s plans for stage 3, which arrives Sunday, May 24.
All dates listed are subject to change.
Stage 3 (beginning May 24)
- Social distancing to still be maintained, social distancing from public, personal protection equipment to still be utilized, disinfecting doors and equipment still in place at this time. Completing single person tasks when possible.
- Park and Recreation Office will open, by appointment only, Tuesday, May 25th. All public entering the building must wear masks or face coverings.
- Parks & Greenways remain open.
- Playgrounds will open Saturday, May 24 with the restriction of no group play.
- Tennis courts will open Saturday, May 24 with the restriction of no group play.
- Park restrooms will open and will be cleaned daily: up opening, mid-day, closing.
- Outdoor covered shelter rentals will resume June 1 with restrictions on social gatherings up to 100 people.
- Community Center rentals will resume June 1 with restrictions on social gatherings up to 100 people.
Stage 4 (beginning June 14)
- Social distancing still to be maintained, social distancing from the public when possible, personal protection equipment to still be utilized when necessary, disinfecting doors and equipment still in place at this time. Completing single person tasks when possible.
- Park and Recreation Office will remain open, by appointment only. All public entering the building must wear masks or face coverings.
- Basketball courts open.
- Volleyball courts open.
- Beach opens with restrictions. Swim at own risk and practice social distancing.
- Outdoor covered shelters resume with restrictions on social gatherings up to 250 people.
- Community Center rentals resume with standard building capacity rental of 150 people.
Stage 5 (beginning July 4)
- Shelter rentals resume with no restrictions.
- Community Center rentals resume with no restrictions.
- The splash pad opens to the public. This includes, but is not limited to, high-touch areas and restrooms cleaning continued daily: upon opening, mid-day, and closing.
- PPE is optional at this point. Great hygiene still encouraged. Continued disinfecting of doors and equipment. Maintain social distancing as much as possible.
- Fireworks – Saturday, July 4 – TBD on May 31.
