Wanda Joan Miller
Wanda Joan Miller, 77, New Paris, formerly of Wakarusa, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born Jan. 17, 1943 in Elkhart County to Levon B. Weaver and Thelma O. (Hartman) Weaver Lechlitner. On Nov. 30, 1960, she married LaVerne Miller.
Surviving are her husband, LaVerne, New Paris, three children, Richard “Rick” (Tracy) Miller, Shipshewana, Jeffrey (Dorothy) Miller, New Paris, Robin (Shane) Mullett, Goshen; ten grandchildren: Nicholas (Brooke) Miller, Olivia, Travis and LeAnna Miller, Ashley and Kristin Miller, Alyson (John) Leathermen, Tiffany Cable, Isaiah and Joshua Jacobs; five great-grandchildren and one on the way, and one step-great-grandson.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Lewis Weaver.
Wanda was a 1961 graduate of Wakarusa High School and graduated from Ivy Tech as a Certified Dietary Manager in May 1987. She worked as a Dietary Manager at Goshen Hospital and the former Carriage Manor (currently Courtyard Healthcare) and worked in Food Service at Fairfield Schools. She was a member of the Wakarusa Missionary Church. Previously, Wanda served as a deaconess at the First Brethren Church, New Paris and taught Bible School. She loved cooking – especially at the Brethren Retreat in Shipshewana. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her flower beds, reading, sewing and word searches.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2020 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Wakarusa Missionary Church, 202 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. COVID-19 Guidelines will be followed. Pastor Chris Knight will officiate and burial will follow at Olive (West) Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Brethren Retreat at Shipshewana Lake, Shipshewana.
