Warsaw Woman Arrested For Stealing Gun, Knife

WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested after allegedly stealing a gun and knife.
Haley Dawn Fountain, 27, 944 E. Garfield St., Warsaw, is charged with theft of a firearm, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 27, a Warsaw Police officer was dispatched to a location in Kosciusko County in reference to a stolen firearm.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a man who said that Fountain stole a firearm from him.
The man said Fountain had been at that location earlier in the day. After Fountain left, the man discovered that his handgun and a knife were missing.
The man said Fountain had been the only person there recently due to the pandemic.
The officer spoke with Fountain by phone. During that conversation, she denied taking the firearm.
On April 29, the officer went to a residence for a follow-up with Fountain. The officer was allowed entrance into the residence by another woman. Fountain was reportedly found hiding in a bathroom.
At that time, Fountain admitted taking the firearm and knife and said she sold the firearm to another man.
The officer spoke with the man Fountain said she sold the firearm to. That man told police that Fountain sold him a firearm and knife. He gave the firearm to police. The firearm was confirmed to be the one belonging to the man who reported it stolen.
Fountain was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail April 29 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
