WARSAW — The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana has declared a freeze warning for Kosciusko County and surrounding areas.
The warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Friday, May 8, to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, the weather service said.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 are expected across the region.
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high of 52 and a low of 38.
Sunday includes a growing chance of rain after 3 p.m. and into the early evening hours. The high will be 56 and the low will fall to 36.
