Area Accident Reports
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 6:11 p.m. Wednesday, May 6. On East 500 N near North 750 E, North Webster. Drivers: Travis A. Fugate, 20, South 500 E, Pierceton; and Dolores A. Melendez, 70, North Ashe Court, Milford. Fugate was traveling eastbound on 500 N following Melendez too closely. Melendez slowed down and Fugate could not avoid hitting the back of the vehicle. Melendez reported head pain. Damage up to: $15,001.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 2:44 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2501 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Drivers: Walter G. Wallace, 59, North Timberline Circle East, Warsaw; and Ronda K. Huff, 58, South CR 950W, Kimmell. Wallace’s vehicle rear-ended Huff’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 11:17 a.m. Wednesday, May 6. On SR 15 near Lyon St., Warsaw. Driver: Travis S. Niccum, 26, Robin Drive, Warsaw. Niccum was traveling north on SR 15 when he said a gold sedan pulled in front of him and slammed on the breaks. Niccum then swerved right to avoid hitting the sedan, and in result hit a utility pole on the side of the road. A police officer in the area witnessed the accident, and noticed the vehicles were traveling around 60 mph in the 30 mph zone. The gold sedan hit the brakes hard enough to skid on the concrete. A witness said they saw the two driving recklessly and noted their behavior as racing. Niccum also had an aftermarket racing harness which was improperly installed. It was not clear if the harness was secured at the time of the accident. Niccum was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to: $15,001.
