Fay Whetstone
Fay Whetstone, 93, Mentone, passed at 7:58 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2020, at her residence.
Fay was born on May 2, 1927, in Mentone to the late Elmer D. and Esther R. (Horn) Sarber. She married on June 14, 1946, in Mentone, to Carl B. Whetstone, who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1994.
She was a 1945 graduate of Mentone High School. After graduating she began working at Manwaring’s for a few years. She then became a homemaker and helped, along side her husband, on the family farm.
Fay had been a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years where she served in many positions. She was active in the United Methodist Women, Sunday School, the choir, funeral dinners, and Bible School. She was also a founding member of the Merry Mollies.
She enjoyed reading and the library. She was known as a baker especially her old fashion cream pie and her award winning blueberry pie.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Webster, Mentone; sons, Mike (Sharon) Whetstone, Mentone; Tim (Cathy) Whetstone, Mentone; Jerry (Angy) Whetstone, Akron; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law, Cindy Whetstone; sister, Zelda Blackford; brother, Gene Sarber.
Following county, state, federal, and CDC guidelines private family services will be held at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, with Pastor Jason Rice officiating. Private burial will take place Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
