Evalee M. ‘Eve’ Payne
Evalee M. “Eve” Payne, 86, North Webster, passed away at 10:48 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born on Oct. 19, 1933, in Anderson, to Addison L. “A.L.” and Eva (Forrer) McKee.
She graduated in 1951 from Anderson High School and attended Indiana University in Bloomington. She was married on March 10, 1957, in Anderson, to Philip R. “Phil” Payne who survives and resided in North Webster the rest of her life. She was a former co-owner of Metcalf and Payne Plumbing & Heating in North Webster for 40 years and former clerk and treasurer for the Town of North Webster for 13 years.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in North Webster, former member of the Lady Lions Club both in North Webster, and Phi Mu Sorority. She was a past president of the women’s auxiliary of the Indiana Plumbing & Heating Cooling Contractors.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Payne, North Webster; three daughters: Susan L. (Paul) Gilchrist and Sharon L. (Tom) Figura both of Indianapolis; and Sandra L. (Justin) Apotheker of Lone Tree, Colo.; one son, Steven L. (Shelly) Payne, Faribault, Minn.; one son, Steven L. (Shelly) Payne, Faribault, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
**Due to the current, unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus, there will be a private family visitation at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. A public graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Family requests that everyone follow social distancing guidelines at the cemetery. **
