ROCHESTER — The Fulton County Health Department recently reported the county’s first COVID-19 death.
According to data from the FCHD, as of April 29, Fulton County has 30 positive cases. In total, there have been 157 total tests administered in the county. Currently, the Indiana State Department of Health website reflects Fulton County as having 27 positive cases. This is due to the time it takes for ISDH to register the most recent virus numbers on the map.
The number of reported coronavirus cases in Kosciusko County increased to 36, with 19 reported recoveries.
The Kosciusko County Health Department recently shared information on the number of COVID-19 tests performed that are reported on the ISDH website.
“Currently, Kosciusko County is reported to have performed 523 COVID-19 tests and the state of Indiana has reported a total of 94,998 performed tests,” said Nichole LaLonde, KCHD epidemiologist. “As facilities have continued to send tests to private labs, as well as beginning to perform their own tests, this total is not an accurate representation of the total number of tests performed. This number is only representative of the tests reported to the ISDH — it is not mandated that facilities report the tests they have performed to the ISDH. The total number of tests reported is an underestimate of the actual number of tests performed. Thus, this total should by no means be characterized as a comprehensive total.”
Meanwhile, the latest posting on the ISDH website shows the total number of cases statewide rose to 17,835, with the number of deaths in Indiana now at 1,007. This is an increase from 964 reported on Wednesday, April 29.
More than 94,900 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Indiana.
Locally, Wabash County has 42 positive cases, Noble County has 68 positive cases and Elkhart County has 287 positive cases. Whitley County has 19 positive cases and Marshall County has 29 positive cases.
Cass County, which is south of Fulton County and includes Logansport, has 1,164 positive COVID-19 cases — up from 1,125 reported on Wednesday. In other northern Indiana counties, Lake County has 1,846 positive cases; St. Joseph County has 633 positive cases; and Allen County has 560 positive cases.
Marion County, which includes Indianapolis, has the most cases in the state at 5,530.
