SYRACUSE — The need for food is still evident in the area, as over two dozen cars had to be turned away Sunday, April 26, at Sleepy Owl, when free dinners ran out in less than 30 minutes.
An anonymous donor provided funds for Sleepy Owl to give back to the community, with a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans and corn dinner. A total of 185 meals were quickly distributed.
At least a dozen cars lined up at the restaurant an hour before the 4 p.m. start time, but soon vehicles were lined up on SR 13 and in the parking lot. Distribution of the meals began early, because of the traffic congestion and by 4 p.m. all meals had been handed out.
Sleepy Owl will be hosting another event Saturday, May 2, at The Owl’s Nest, North Webster. Donors have provided enough funds for 750 meals to be distributed. More information will be provided when available.
