Jerry L. Gerber
Jerry L. Gerber, 78, Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at his home. He was born on Dec. 24, 1941, in Nappanee, to Valentine and Alma V. (Mullett) Gerber.
He attended Milford High School, was a United States Korean Army veteran, and lived most of his life in the Elkhart & Kosciusko County. He retired from various local trailer factories and he formerly worked at John’s Jet Creek and Gerber Concrete in Syracuse & New Paris.
He is survived by his twin sister, Judy (Gene) Janeway, Wabash; two brothers, Allen Gerber, Syracuse; and John Gerber, Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Nancy Helmuth, Sally Wineberg, infant Donna Gerber, infant Ruth Gerber and two brothers: Richard and Arnold Gerber.
Due to the current, unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus, there will be a private family visitation and burial will take place in the South Union Cemetery. A public memorial service to celebrate his life will be scheduled at a later date.** Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
