GOSHEN – At least there is a plan, for now.
The Northern Lakes Conference made an announcement late Friday afternoon about plans regarding potential conference scenarios and how to determine champions if indeed spring sports are allowed to resume in May.
Goshen athletic director and NLC secretary/treasurer Larry Kissinger began the release with the statement, “Yesterday’s announcement from the Indiana Department of Education and correspondence from the IHSAA has given local schools more direction on how spring sports season can proceed. Northern Lakes Conference athletic directors met by video conference this morning to determine the spring sports season schedules. While this situation is fluid, the current plans for the Northern Lakes Conference spring sports are.”
The plan will have baseball and softball play a seven-game season between May 11-22 to determine its conference champions. A schedule of games, if needed, would be released at a later date.
Boys and girls track would have Concord host a meet for all NLC boys teams, and Goshen would host a meet for all NLC girls teams. Both would be held on May 9 and would determine seed times for a meet held on May 12 at Goshen, which would serve as the NLC Championship meet.
Girls tennis would not have any changes to its already-constructed schedules. The NLC tournament would be held May 13-15 and be the sole determining factor for the NLC champion.
Boys golf would not have any changes to its schedule.
