June S. Schieber, 96, Wakarusa, died 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born Feb. 23, 1924 in Wakarusa, to Elmer & Bernita (Morris) Metzler. On Sept. 21, 1942, in Wakarusa, she married Walter L. Schieber and he died April 9, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Allen (Peggy) Schieber, Logansport, grandchildren, Melissa (Robby) Kissling, Warsaw, Amy (Craig) Myers, Avon, great-grandchildren, Jacob Kissling, Molly Kissling, Will Myers, sister, Joellen Schurr, St. Louis, Missouri and a brother-in-law, Dean Schieber, Wakarusa.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brother, Dale Metzler and a sister, Jule Slough.
June was a 1942 graduate of Wakarusa High School. She started working in 1958 for the Exchange State Bank, Wakarusa, and remained employed with its subsequent ownership until her retirement after 27 years. June was a member of the Wakarusa United Methodist Church, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women and Bible Study. She was also a member of the Friends of Wakarusa Public Library, Wakarusa Historical Society, Searchlight Club, Wakarusa and the Olive Township Advisory Board for 26 years.
Private family services will be held at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Burial will be at Olive (West) Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Wakarusa United Methodist Church or to the Wakarusa Public Library.
