Whitko Encourages Viewing Board Meeting Via Facebook Live
LARWILL — Whitko Community Schools will host its board meeting Monday night, March 16, but is encouraging people interested to instead watch online.
Superintendent Dr. Brandon Penrod and Board President Carrie Hoffman issued a statement regarding the meeting of the Board of School Trustees scheduled for Monday, March 16.
The board meeting is scheduled to take place at Pierceton Elementary School at 6:30 p.m.
The statement acknowledged that school board meetings are open to the public, but with the concerns regarding COVID-19, the corporation encouraged community members to consider viewing the meeting via its live stream on Facebook Live.
Whitko regularly provides a live stream of its school board meetings. The March 16 meeting will be available on the Whitko Facebook page.
With the present concerns about COVID-19 (the Coronavirus), we would like to remind you that our School Board meetings are “live-streamed” via Facebook Live. If you would prefer to not attend the meeting scheduled for Monday night (tonight), but would still like to observe the meeting, you can view the live stream of the meeting by logging into Facebook, the statement said.
We offer this reminder just to inform you of an alternative way to observe the school board meeting. Any patron who wished to attend the meeting in person will be allowed to do so. We want to assure our school community that we are committed to keeping everyone safe during this difficult time and appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to openly conduct the business of the school corporation as required by Indiana law. That said, out of an abundance of caution and pursuant to CDC recommendations and other current guidelines, we have reduced the agenda for this evening’s meeting to a single item, a resolution to allow for continued business during the COVID-19 crisis. Please contact the Office of the Superintendent if you have any questions.
