Wawasee Board OK’s Emergency Plan To Support Non-Salaried Workers
SYRACUSE — Wawasee School Board approved Resolution 2020-001 during a special emergency meeting held Monday afternoon, March 16, in the central office board room in Syracuse.
James Flecker, director of personnel and legal services for the Wawasee Community School Corporation, said the resolution will allow non-salaried employees to continue receiving income even while mandated to stay home during concerns associated with the spread of the coronavirus.
“They still have bills to pay and other obligations,” he said, noting a few non-salaried employees will still need to come in to help with projects or programs, but most will stay home.
The resolution will also allow Dr. Tom Edington, superintendent, flexibility as needed with the school corporation calendar.
There were no other agenda items during the brief special meeting.
