Ridge Surges Ahead In All-Sports Tally
GOSHEN – Northridge used a pair of boys titles and a girls title to sit atop the Northern Lakes Conference All-Sports tally after the winter sports season.
Northridge’s undefeated runs through the wrestling and boys basketball NLC round robins along with a third-place finish in swimming propelled the Raiders to the top of the list. Northridge’s 88 total points moves it ahead of Warsaw, which was second in swimming and tied for third in both wrestling and basketball. The Tigers, which had a three-point lead on both Northridge and NorthWood after the fall, are now at 83 points and firmly in second place.
NorthWood had a pair of thirds in wrestling and basketball to aid its 70 points and third place standing.
Plymouth (63) is in fourth while Concord, with its swim title, rests in fifth with 60 points. Goshen (52), Memorial (45) and Wawasee (43) bring up the end of the list. The Warriors recovered from a tough fall with a second in wrestling and fourth in swimming.
On the girls side, a tight battle atop the list after the fall season continued through the winter. Northridge and Warsaw were tied with 50 points after the fall slate, with NorthWood just three points behind at 47.
A swim championship by Northridge and a basketball championship by NorthWood added 16 points to their causes.
Northridge’s tie for third in basketball moves the Raiders into the lead with 77 points.
Warsaw sits three back at 74 after a second in basketball and fourth in swimming.
NorthWood dropped into a tie for seventh in swimming, which drops the Panthers back to third in the tally with 66 points.
Concord’s runner-up spot in swimming and tie for third in basketball with Ridge has the Minutemen in fourth at 55 points, 10 points clear of Goshen. Plymouth (40), Memorial (40) and Wawasee (35) make up the remainder of the girls list. Wawasee’s fourth in swimming helped the Lady Warriors pull into view of the three teams directly in front of it heading into the spring.
