FULTON – The postponement of the boys basketball season granted the Hoosier North Athletic Conference the chance to issue its 2019-20 boys basketball awards.
The conference announced late Sunday night that its Most Valuable Player is North Judson’s Cooper Hochstedler, who also headlines the All-HNAC list. The Blue Jays, LaVille and Pioneer all finished in a tie for first at 5-2. Knox and Triton were 4-3 and tied for fourth place, Caston was next at 3-4, followed by Winamac at 2-5 and Culver at 0-7.
LaVille and Caston were still alive in the state tournament, LaVille opposite Bowman Academy at the Class 2-A North Judson Regional and Caston opposite Argos at the Class 1-A Triton Regional. The state tournament was postponed after the sectional around the coronavirus pandemic.
Earning All-Conference awards in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference were Hochstedler and teammate Blayne Wilcox, LaVille’s Jimmy Fischer and Connor Wieczorek and Pioneer’s Gage Cripe and Logan Nusbaum.
Also on the All-Conference list were Ashton Oviedo and Tyson Yates of Triton, Kole McIntire and Cade Short of Knox, Hunter Schanlaub of Caston and Will Larkin of Winamac.
On the Honorable Mention list were Tyler Heckaman of Triton, Mike Rans of Caston, Gunner Wagner of Knox, Austin Dove of LaVille, Ty Schumacher of North Judson and Ezra Lewellen of Pioneer.
