Grace Tennis Striding In Florida
BABSON PARK, Fla. – Grace’s women’s tennis team started its Florida trip with a trio of matches over the weekend.
The Lady Lancers (13-5) beat Webber International 5-2 and Warner 6-1, and Grace lost to NCAA Div. II Eckerd 4-3.
Grace’s first match resulted in a victory over Webber International. The Lady Lancers earned five of the six singles’ points, thanks to Emily Mast, Dayana Ortega, Carrie Copeland, Morgan Mast and Shelby Bankson.
Against Eckerd, Grace earned the doubles’ point after winning two of the three doubles’ courts.
But in singles, only Emily Mast and Ortega found victory as Eckerd rallied to win 4-3.
The weekend ended with a 6-1 victory over Warner. The match started on a strong note after the Lady Lancers won all three doubles’ courts. Emily Mast and Ortega won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, Copeland and Jayna Armstrong won at No. 2, and Morgan Mast and Gretchen Adams cruised at No. 3. Grace then earned all but one singles’ point to coast to victory over the Royals.
The Lady Lancers’ final match in Florida is on Monday against No. 21 Southeastern.
