Milford Man Arrested In Two Cases For Drugs, Domestic Battery
WARSAW — A Milford man was recently arrested in two separate cases involving drugs and domestic battery.
In the first case, Christopher Charles Castle, 31, 111 W. Section St., Apartment 6, Milford, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor. Castle is also charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor, in the second case.
On Jan. 2, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department was patrolling when he noticed a vehicle fail to signal a turn properly. As a result, the officer pulled the vehicle over. During the course of the traffic stop, Castle was a passenger in the vehicle.
According to court documents, a K9 unit positively alerted to the presence of illegal drugs from the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, the officer found a digital scale, which tested positive for methamphetamine. The scale was located in the back hatch area of the vehicle, which was directly behind where Castle was seated.
On Jan. 8, an officer with the Milford Police Department was dispatched to a residence in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival at the scene, Castle became loud and belligerent and was immediately placed in handcuffs. Castle declined giving a statement about the incident when asked by an officer with the Syracuse Police Department.
According to court documents, a woman was present at the residence during the dispute. The officer noticed that the woman had a large knot on her forehead and a small cut under her lower lip. At the time, the woman told the officer she had tripped over some household items and hit her head on a wall.
On Jan. 10, the officer met with the woman to conduct a follow-up investigation of the incident. During the investigation, the officer noticed that the woman had bruises on her face and chest area. The woman said she was afraid to tell officers the truth initially due to Castle being present at the time. She said Castle had punched her in the face and kneed her in the face and chest several times in the presence of her child.
The officer also spoke with another woman who was present during the altercation. The woman told the officer that she could hear the altercation between the victim and Castle occurring.
Castle was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 24, with a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
