James O. Unzicker
James O. Unzicker, 80, rural Claypool, passed at 8:25 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at his residence.
Jim was born on May 16, 1939, in Brooke, to the late William P. and Melissa T. E. (Beschorner) Unzicker. He married on Nov. 18, 1961, in the First Baptist Church of Mentone to Mary F. Ladson, she survives.
He had been a grain and livestock farmer. He had worked from 1960 to 1974 as a bindery operator at R.R. Donnelley of Warsaw.
He was a 1957 graduate of Mentone High School. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mentone where he had served as Deacon, Song Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. He had been on the Production Credit and Federal Land Bank Association Boards. He enjoyed annually attending the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky. His choice of machinery was always John Deere. He also loved swimming, golf, and bowling. In earlier years he also played basketball and football.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Laura (Bobby) Silver, Mint Hlll, N.C.; Sonya (Spence) Galloway, Caledonia, Mich.; Tami (Scott) Cameron, Matthews, N.C.; grandchildren: Jeffery and wife Jennie, Hannah, Lydia, Abigail, Carson and wife Meghann, Kendall and husband Zach, Jordan, Asher, Bella, and Alma James; great-granddaughter, Autumn; sister: Barbara (Jerry) Eaton, Spring Lake, Fla.; brother, Bill (Sarah) Unzicker, Holland, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Robert Allen Unzicker; sisters: Rhoda, Betty, Luann, and Alice
The funeral services will take place at 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana with Pastor Michael Wilhite and Pastor Scott Cameron officiating.
The burial will take place in the Sycamore Cemetery, Mentone.
Visitation hours will be from 2-3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at King Memorial Home, Mentone,.
