Paul Ray Sliter
Paul Ray Sliter, 95, North Webster, formerly of Milford, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. He was born on June 10, 1924, in Russellville, Ark. to George and Beulah (Pierce) Sliter.
He grew up in Arkansas, attended public school in Bradford, Ark., and moved to Indiana in 1955. He was married on Aug. 16, 1969, in Warsaw, to Myrtle L. (Hollar) Veach, who survives. He retired in 1986 as the owner and operator of Sliter Cleaners & Janitorial Service in Milford after 20 years of service. He formerly employed at Wayne Trailer Factory in Bourbon for 11 years and Richardson Homes in Elkhart for eight years. He moved to Milford in 1976 and then to North Webster in 2015.
He was a member of the Sanctuary Church in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Sliter, Milford; three sons: Kenny Sliter, Warsaw; Harvey (Julia) Sliter, Plymouth; Jim (Pat) Sliter, Conway, Ark; two daughters: Marie Sliter, Culver; Veada Moon, Hot Springs, Ark.; step-son: Russell (Janet) Veach, North Webster; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons: Paul Jr., John, and Thomas Sliter, sister: Ethel Sliter, four brothers: Selmer, Carl, Arthur, and Archie Sliter and step son – Randy Veach.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Wirebaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
