Dr. Donald Minter
Dr. Donald Minter, 91, Goshen died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, at home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Nappanee, to John and Mabel (Stover) Minter.
On June 19, 1954, he married Martha “Marty” Forsyth at Calvary Episcopal Church in Conshohocken, Penn.
She survives along with two daughters, Donna (Bruce Brunner) Minter of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Ann (Mike) Fetters of Wichita, Kan.; two sons, William (Karla) Minter of New Paris; and Douglas (Jill) Minter of Louisville, Colo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, David (Connie) Minter of Aurora, Colo.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Stutzman and Priscilla Hoffman; and two brothers, John R. “Dick” and Charles Minter.
Don graduated from Goshen College in 1950 and Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia in 1954. His medical practice took him to the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and New Mexico, Family Medical practice in Wisconsin and then to Goshen over a forty-year period.
Since retirement from active medical practice he enjoyed volunteer responsibilities with Boys and Girls Club of Goshen, Mirror Valley Retreat in Cass County, Mich., Goshen City Tree Board and other Board appointments with Goshen General Hospital, Oaklawn Hospital, Greencroft Retirement Community, Messiah College in Pennsylvania, and Amigo Centre in Michigan. He also served on the Goshen City Council.
Don was a member of College Mennonite Church where he was on the Church Board and taught Junior High Sunday School for many years.
He enjoyed participation in family activities, wandering and working in the woodlands of southern Michigan, and considered it a great privilege to have Jesus as his Savior and guide in life.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 6, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
A memorial service will be held at College Mennonite Church, Goshen on Saturday, March 7, in the late afternoon. A specific time will be announced when confirmed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to College Mennonite Church Student Aid Fund or the Boys and Girls Club of Goshen.
