NORTHWOOD 59, ELKHART CHRISTIAN 48
Elkhart Christian gave NorthWood a run Friday night, but the Panthers had too much distance early on to fend off an upset bid.
After playing to two points in the first quarter, NorthWood spread out a 23-8 run in the second quarter to take command. While ECA used a 14-2 run to get back into the game in the second half, NorthWood still led by 10, 48-38, at the end of the third quarter.
Trent Edwards led NorthWood with 17 points and four assists. Jamarr Jackson had 12 points, six rebounds and five steals and Cooper Wiens added 12 points and three thefts in the win.
NorthWood as a whole forced 22 turnovers and recorded 16 steals in the contest. The Panthers had just nine turnovers in the game.
Matthew Elmerick and Bryce Coursen combined for 27 points for the Eagles, but also combined for 15 turnovers to one assist.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 51, TRITON 48 (OT)
Apparently Paul Leasure is feeling better.
The super freshman for Valley returned from illness earlier in the week to pour in 28 to lead the Vikes to a win at the Trojan Trench. Leasure was 10-13 from the floor, including 4-5 from three-point range, in 32 minutes of play.
Tanner Trippiedi added 10 points and three steals and DJ Estep added seven points and an assist for Valley.
Ashton Oviedo led the hosts with 17 points and five steals, Tyler Heckaman had another double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Tyson Yates gave the team another 11 points.
Triton pulled away from Tippy for a 47-24 JV win. Cole McKinney protected the Trench with 16 points and a pair of steals. Nate Amsden had eight points and seven rebounds for the Trojans. Brendyn Stump had 11 points and three steals for the Vikings.
EAST NOBLE 53, WAWASEE 36
Wawasee couldn’t keep pace with the host Knights Friday night.
East Noble ran out to a 15-6 lead after a quarter and 30-16 lead at the half, which Wawasee couldn’t recover.
Chris Hood led East Noble with 19 points and eight rebounds and Hayden Jones and Nate Dickson combined for 22 points.
Ethan Hardy had 12 points and five rebounds to pace the Warriors, and Keaton Dukes chipped in 10 points. The Knights held leading scorer Austin Miller scoreless on six shot attempts.
After opening the month with its 11th win of the season, Wawasee had dropped four of its last five.
Wawasee won the JV contest 50-45. Landon Gause led the Warriors with 13 points and Collin Roberson collected 12 points and four rebounds. Keegan Foster and Avery Kline had 13 points each for the Knights.
