Woman Arrested After Officers Respond To Drug Overdose
WINONA LAKE — A woman was recently arrested after officers responded to a report of a drug overdose involving another woman at a residence.
Kaycee Kapri Keirstead, 28, 503 Campbell Ave., Marion, is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a syringe, both level 6 felonies; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Feb. 6, an officer with the Winona Lake Police Department responded to an overdose in Warsaw. The officer was assisted by officers with the Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
When the WLPD officer arrived at the scene, he found two ISP officers performing chest compressions on a woman. According to court documents, the woman was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where she was treated and released.
The officer talked with two other women who were present in the residence. One of the women was identified as Keirstead. While the officer spoke with them, he noticed a spoon with a brown residue on it and two syringes that had been recently used. The brown residue tested positive for heroin.
While preparing to take Keirstead to the Kosciusko County Jail, the officer searched Keirstead’s person. The officer found a syringe containing a liquid residue and a glass smoking device with a white residue that tested positive for cocaine. Keirstead admitted she was a user of heroin. Marijuana and two syringes were also located in Keirstead’s purse.
Keirstead was arrested on Feb. 6 and released on her own recognizance.
