Syracuse Library Closed President’s Day
SYRACUSE — Stock up on movies, books and puzzles for the long weekend when the Syracuse Library is closed for President’s Day observances on Monday, Feb. 17.
Copies of the Chautauqua Wawasee/ Syracuse Library book club choice, “The Lost City of the Monkey God” are available. The discussion is on Friday, Mar. 20. There is plenty of time to read the next book. Food from Fiction book club is going Italian with “Margherita’s Notebook” to be discussed on Thursday, Mar. 12.
Copies are available and can be reserved through the Evergreen system. Read the book and prepare to share a favorite Italian dish, said a news release from the Syracuse Public Library.
The McGee’s Decluttering support group have decided to make a current list of places that accept certain items. The group welcomes new members and meets on 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Social Security information is available in a small group setting on 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19. WorkOne, a state employment agency, provides help with unemployment claims, resume writing and other employment questions on Wednesdays from 1-4:30 p.m.
Tuesday morning starts with easy chair yoga at 10:15 a.m. A 45-minute chair yoga class is offered on Thursdays at 9:15 a.m. through March. Walk the Trails and advanced chair yoga begins in April.
Learn to knit or bring a fiber project to String Theory social fiber group. Meetings are every Thursday around 5 p.m. in the adult department.
Toddler times, stories, dance and songs give families a fun time at the library on 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. Special family after-school fun continues with Fun at Four on Thursday. Baylee, the read-to-me dog, is visiting at 4 p.m., Feb. 20.
A full morning of activities are provided for homeschooling families with the culture and history of Italy for older children, stories for preschoolers and coffee for moms. The groups meet on Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
Teen gaming starts in the meeting room 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20. There are plenty of controllers, so everyone is playing. Dungeons and Dragons meets Fridays from 2 – 6 p.m. New players are brought up to speed by other members, join anytime, said the news release.
