Barbara Cook Hudson
Barbara Cook Hudson, 88, Claypool, died at 11:43 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, in her home, surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 13, 1931, to Zella Carter Cook and Walter Cook of Fulton.
On Oct. 1, 1949, she married Kenneth L. Hudson who preceded her in death on July 15, 2002. Also preceding her death was a daughter, Rita Hudson; a granddaughter, Katie and great-grandson, Kaine Humes; her parents; two brothers: Art and A.J. (Jiggs); three sisters: Estalla Eads, Betty Coldren and Phyllis Rauntenkranz.
Surviving are her children: Robert and Linda Hudson of Mentone and Roger and Nancy Hudson of Claypool; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way and ten great-great grandchildren, with one on the way.
She was the sixth of 12 children and is survived by her three brothers: James and Dot Cook, Kimmel; Howard Dean and Carolyn Cook, Rochester; and George and Carolyn Cook, New Haven; three sisters: Annette Georg, O’Fallon, Mo.; Anne and Roscoe Goings, South Whitley, and Jane and Gary Champ, Fulton.
A Claypool resident for 55 years, she was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Claypool. She loved her church and church family. Her hobbies included gardening and raising flowers. But she was also known for baking cookies, which she was happy to share with all. She also enjoyed sharing her time as an assistant Den Mother to the Cub Scouts, Home Education and in 4-H.
A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street in Warsaw. Friends may gather there for a time of visitation from 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, Feb. 11. At noon, Pastor Terry Bradford of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko will officiate a funeral which celebrates Barbara’s life. Burial will follow in Harrison Center Cemetery.
