Rochester City Councilman Resigns, Faces Multiple Sex Charges
ROCHESTER — A Rochester City Councilman has resigned after being arrested on multiple charges involving sexual misconduct with a minor.
Gary Clevenger Jr., 40, 501 Clayton St., is charged with child solicitation, a level 5 felony; sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 5 felony; contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a level 6 felony; and child neglect, a level 6 felony.
He is accused of allegedly offering money and drugs to a minor in exchange for sexual favors.
Clevenger, a Democrat, represented District 1.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the victim’s mother, which resulted in an investigation.
During the investigation, it was alleged that the victim was doing odd jobs, including roofing work and pulling weeds, for Clevenger during the summer of 2019.
According to court documents, Clevenger sometimes gave the victim marijuana and THC cartridges as payment for work.
The affidavit alleges that Clevenger paid the victim $50 to sit on his hand and that Clevenger requested that the victim send him pictures for money.
Clevenger allegedly offered the victim $200 in exchange for oral sex, which the victim declined. The victim further said Clevenger paid the 15-year-old to give him back and foot massages.
Clevenger was booked at the Fulton County Jail on Jan. 31.
