Girls Basketball Results: Feb. 4
ELKHART CENTRAL 62, ELKHART MEMORIAL 31
The opening round of the Class 4-A No. 4 sectional at Warsaw saw Elkhart Central win the final game against its crosstown rivals.
Central had Yiesha Williams score 12 points in the first quarter and finish with 19 in the first half, outscoring Memorial in the opening half by herself. Williams would finish with 31 points.
Makaya Porter added 19 points for the Blue Blazers, which knocked out the Crimson Chargers ahead of next year’s merge into Elkhart High School.
Memorial had Mya Reeves lead the team with 13 points and Shelby Weidner added nine points.
Central will take on Warsaw in Friday’s first semi-final. Action resumes at Warsaw Wednesday with Northridge and Penn meeting along with Concord and Goshen. Wednesday’s winners will play in Friday’s second semi-final.
NORTHFIELD 58, SOUTHERN WELLS 36
In the opening round of the Class 1-A No. 53 sectional at North Miami, Northfield enjoyed 16 points from Addi Baker and 14 points and six rebounds each from Emma Hoover and Kearston Stout in the victory.
The Norse advance to the semis Friday night, where it will face host North Miami. Lakeland Christian and Southwood will meet in the first semi-final.

NORTHWOOD 7TH GRADE ‘A’ 34, PIERRE MORAN 4
Claire Payne was huge for NorthWood with 11 points and six rebounds. Paide Cronkright added seven points, three rebounds and a pair of assists.
JOHN YOUNG 7TH GRADE ‘B’ 15, NORTHWOOD 12
Haley Thompson led NorthWood in the loss with seven steals to go with five points.
LINCOLN 8TH GRADE 31, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 25
Valley had a trio score all of its points, led by Sidney Nelson with 10, Chesnee Miller with eight and Macy Petersen with seven.
LINCOLN 7TH GRADE 34, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 17
Valley couldn’t get much going against Lincoln except 11 points from Mackaylie Costello.
WAWASEE 6TH GRADE ‘A’ 33, SOUTH WHITLEY 4
Ava Mock led the winners with 13 points and Mya Elliott added six points.
WAWASEE 6TH GRADE ‘B’ 10, SOUTH WHITLEY 0
Olivia Frost paced the win with four points.
