Warsaw Woman Sentenced For Dealing In Methamphetamine
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court Monday, Feb. 3, for her involvement in an undercover drug transaction.
Lyndsey Leigh Evans, 42, 111 E. High St., Warsaw; also showing an address of 2494 N. Grandview Drive, Warsaw, pleaded guilty to dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 16, 2019, the NET43 Drug Task Force made a controlled purchase of 3.5 grams of methamphetamine from Evans in Kosciusko County.
According to court documents, NET43 also made a controlled purchase of 5.6 grams of methamphetamine from Evans on July 17.
“It is frankly baffling to me what possesses a woman in her early 40s with a family and a good job to pick up a meth pipe,” said Evans’ attorney, Karin McGrath. “I can’t fathom what brought her to that point.”
“She has no criminal history,” McGrath said. “but is now facing some serious consequences. I think she knows that it’s going to be an uphill battle.”
Reed sentenced Evans to six years at the Indiana Department of Corrections but suspended the IDOC placement, instead ordering Evans to serve the first three years of the sentence at the Kosciusko County Jail and one year through Community Corrections. The final two years of the sentence were ordered to be suspended and served on formal probation.
Reed strongly urged Evans to participate in the Jail Chemical Addictions Program. Evans may serve the first three years of the sentence through the Work Release Program, although Reed recommended that she get involved in and complete the JCAP program first.
