Nappanee Public Library Begins Winter Reading Program
NAPPANEE — Nappanee Public Library’s winter reading challenge is a simple reading program created to encourage readers of all ages to curl up with books they love during the winter season.
Read 500 minutes in the month of February and get a $5 gift certificate to Main Street Roasters. Read or listen to anything for this program, such as books, e-books, newspapers, audiobooks, blogs and more. To register or begin logging minutes, visit nappaneelibrary.org and look for the winter reading logo. Registration kicks off Saturday, Feb. 1. Nappanee’s winter reading program is open to current Nappanee residents, fee, PLAC and reciprocal cardholders only.
Join the library for the winter reading kickoff party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. Enjoy a snack from the Pretty Cakery, create wintery crafts, get registered for the 2020 challenge and learn all about what the library has to offer through fun, interactive displays. This is a free event for the whole family.
Learn how to turn backyard maple tree sap into “liquid gold” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18. Learn the art of making syrup at this workshop hosted by the Elkhart County Parks Department.
Native Hoosier Karen Land, a three-time veteran of the Iditarod sled dog race, will share stories on her experience racing across Alaska from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29. Karen will be accompanied by her sled dog, Noggin.
