Ladd Retires After 48 Years With YBMC
WARSAW — Larry Ladd is retiring after 48 years with YBMC Corporation, which operates Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park near Pierceton, the nation’s largest Yogi Bear resort.
Ladd started with the corporation in 1971, during the initial construction phase of the campground which was originally owned by Keith and Virginia Horn.
After earning an economics major from Western New Mexico University in 1975, he returned as operations manager. In 1988, he was promoted to vice president and chief financial and operating officer, a position he held until retirement. He was recently recognized for his years of service at the annual Leisure System conference and international symposium held in Charleston, S.C.
Ladd was a volunteer EMT with the North Webster EMS for 12 years, and in 1988 was appointed deputy coroner by then county coroner John Sadler. Ladd was elected Kosciusko County coroner in 1996 and again in 2000. He served as President of the Indiana Coroner’s Association in 2004 and was awarded the Indiana Coroner of the Year in 2005 by the Association of Indiana Counties. He currently serves as deputy coroner and medico legal death investigator for Kosciusko County.
Ladd has served on various boards in the campground industry, including the Recreational Vehicle Indiana Council Board of Governors, the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association and Leisure Systems advisory board, a graduate of the Kosciusko Leadership Academy and Disney University. Ladd currently is vice president of the City of Warsaw Parks and Recreation board.
Larry and his wife, Mindy, will enjoy spending time with his children and four grandchildren. He will continue as an advisor to the board of directors of YBMC.
