Syracuse Man Receives Six Years In Prison For Dealing Meth
WARSAW — A Syracuse man was sentenced to six years in prison on Tuesday, Jan. 28, for dealing methamphetamine.
Michael Darren Miller, 23, 11314 N. East Wawasee Drive, Syracuse, was charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony. A possession of methamphetamine charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Miller was also in court regarding a probation violation for a 2017 residential entry case. In that case, Kosciusko County Superior Court 3 Judge Joe Sutton sentenced Miller to 24 months in the Kosciusko County Jail, with 12 months suspended.
In March 2018, officers were called to the Circle K gas station in North Webster regarding a report of two people asleep in a vehicle while parked at the station’s gas pumps. Court documents said both had been in the vehicle for more than one hour.
While searching Miller’s vehicle, officers found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine. Police also found $3,364 in cash, $60.32 in coins and ammunition for a .22 caliber handgun. Miller told police the money was from the sale of drugs.
During court proceedings, Miller told Kosciusko County Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed that he is beginning a substance abuse treatment program at the Indiana Department of Corrections, where he is currently incarcerated in another case.
For dealing in methamphetamine, Reed sentenced Miller to six years in prison, with 23 days of jail time credit.
