Laura C. Stucky
Laura C. Stucky, 102, of Syracuse, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at the Maples of Waterford Crossing in Goshen. She was born on Jan. 10, 1918, in Syracuse, to Charles C. and Dale E. (Hillabold) Bachman.
She graduated in 1936 from Syracuse High School, 1940 from Indiana University in Bloomington, and was a lifetime Syracuse area resident until she moved to Goshen in June 2016. She was married on May 9, 1943, in San Francisco, Calif. to James C. “Jim” Stucky who preceded her on March 28, 2016. She was a homemaker and formerly taught at Millersburg & Angola as a Jr. High and High School teacher.
She is a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ellen Jarrett, Goshen; son, Curtis James (Doris) Stucky, Syracuse; three grandchildren: Jeff (Beth) Jarrett, Lauren (Miguel) Roa, and James (fiancé, Alyssa Meeks) Stucky; two great grandchildren: Connor and Allison Jarrett; sister, Lucy E. Kern of Plainfield, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters Virginia Jenkins, Mary Jean Bachman, and Harriett Bachman, and two brothers- Charles Bachman Jr. and Hillary Bachman.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. A memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 E. Main St., Syracuse,with Pastor Tim Diemer officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.
