Gymnastics Results: Jan. 25
PLYMOUTH 95.35, EAST NOBLE 93.45, WARSAW 91.4
In a mini invite format, Plymouth collected a pair of team wins against East Noble and Warsaw Saturday morning.
Kyla Heckaman and Dorothy Karris led the way for Plymouth, Heckaman taking floor at 9.25 and all-around at 33.45 while Karris was tops on bars at 7.6 and beam at 8.75. Heckaman also added an 8.7 on vault for second place in the event.
Warsaw had Daylen Turner score 8.7 to match Heckaman on vault and Sydni Purvis score 7.5 for second on bars and 31.5 to place fourth in all-around.
East Noble’s Miah Hudson led the way on vault with a 9.0 and had the same score on floor, which was second in the meet. Hudson led the Knights with a 32.65 all-around score. Ally Blackburn added an 8.6 on beam.
WARRIORS COMPETE AT FORT WAYNE CONCORDIA
Wawasee got a sneak peek at some potential regional performers at the Fort Wayne Concordia Invite.
The 12-team gathering of Fort Wayne area opponents saw Wawasee finish well off the pace, scoring just 87.75 team points to finish 10th. The Warriors were missing Talia Kuhl to the flu, one of its varsity starters.
Fort Wayne Dwenger continued to perform at an elite level, posting a 109.575 to win the championship, with Homestead (108.275) and Fort Wayne Carroll (104.275) finishing second and third, providing a foreshadowing of what the regional round will look like from the east.
Aundreya Wegener had the only podium spot, taking eighth in all-around with a 31.95. Wegener scored 8.7 on vault, 7.475 on bars, 7.95 on beam and 7.825 on floor.
Emma Ebright competed in all-around for the first time in her career and scored a 27.7.
NorthWood’s Emilee Conrad scored a 26.05 in all-around.
Homestead’s Gina Zirille was the performer of the meet, winning all-around with a 37.925. Zirille was tops on vault (9.75), bars (9.45) and floor (9.575). Fort Wayne Carroll’s McKinley Carroll had the top beam score at 9.65.
