PIERCETON – The meeting schedule for tonight, Thursday, Jan. 23, to discuss the creation of a fire territory in and near Pierceton has been canceled.
The meeting was supposed to involve members of Pierceton Town Council and representatives of Washington and Monroe townships.
There had been some difference of opinion on whether the meeting should be held in public or as an executive session, which would not include public participation.
The point of the meeting was to collect information as officials consider establishing a fire territory involving Pierceton and the two townships.
Officials decided to cancel tonight’s meeting and plan for another within a few weeks.
