Lafontaine Man Struck, Killed By Bus In Wabash County
WABASH — A Lafontaine man was struck and killed in a bus-pedestrian accident in Wabash County on Sunday.
At approximately 7:03 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, officers from the Indiana State Police and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on SR 15 near CR 1050S.
The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Jeremy Perez revealed that Cindy Bowsher, 49, Spencerville, OH, was driving a 2005 MCIN charter bus traveling south on SR 15 near CR 1050S. James D. Gulley, 41, Lafontaine, was walking on SR 15 when he was struck by the bus. It is yet to be determined if Gulley was in the road or walking on the shoulder.
Gulley was pronounced dead at the scene. Bowsher and the passengers on the bus were uninjured.
Bowsher was driving for Buckeye Charter Service Inc. A second charter bus was called to the scene to offload the passengers.
The crash is still under investigation. Trooper Perez was assisted by Trooper Matt Moon.
