Grossnickle Running For Superior Court 3 Judge
WARSAW – Lindsey Grossnickle has announced her intention to seek election to Kosciusko Superior Court 3 judge.
Grossnickle is seeking the Republican nomination in the May primary.
Grossnickle graduated from Alma College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in political science and English, and then went on to obtain her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2000, according to a news release issued Friday.
It has been Grossnickle’s professional goal to become a judge, the announcement said.
In this endeavor, she has practiced in many areas of law. She has had an abundance of courtroom experience, including civil and criminal jury trials, and mediation experience, as well as legal writing. Grossnickle has been a public servant for the majority of her career and wishes to continue to serve the public in this new role. Public service is a privilege, and Lindsey is committed to being a judge that is fair and respectful to all that appear before the court, Grossnickle said in her statement.
Grossnickle began her legal career clerking for the Honorable Patricia A. Riley of the Indiana Court of Appeals, from 2000-2002. From 2002 – 2016, she had a private practice in Columbia City at the firm known as Bloom Gates Sigler & Whiteleather, LLP (now Bloom Gates Shipman & Whiteleather, LLP) (BGSW). During this time, she primarily focused on family law matters. This area of practice required substantial time in mediation and the courtroom. She became a partner at BGSW in 2009. In 2013, Grossnickle became a registered family law mediator. She has also done a significant amount of appellate work, arguing before our Indiana Supreme Court in 2010, and our Indiana Court of Appeals in 2014.
From 2004-2012, Grossnickle also worked for the City of Columbia City, as a Deputy City Attorney, and the appointed City Attorney.
Since 2004, Grossnickle has worked as a part-time deputy prosecutor in Whitley County. She has been responsible for the Title IV-D division of the office for 16 years, including both civil and criminal. She has been in charge of all juvenile matters in Whitley County for 14 years. In 2016, the Whitley Superior Court implemented a Veterans Treatment Court. Since the beginning, Grossnickle has on the team as the prosecutor’s office representative. Her father was a Vietnam War Veteran, and she believes serving on the team is honoring his memory.
Grossnickle has also been a Co-Coordinator for Whitley County Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) since August of 2016 and Co-Coordinator for Kosciusko County JDAI since July of 2018.
Grossnickle has served on a variety of boards in Kosciusko and Whitley Counties, and statewide. Currently, Lindsey serves as the Board Chair for Whitley Crossings Neighborhood Corporation, Board Member for TROY School, Human Rights Committee Member for Passages, Safe Places Advisory Board Member for the Youth Services Bureau, Whitley County Community Corrections Advisory Board Member, and Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council child support subcommittee member.
Grossnickle’s husband, Andrew, is an attorney with the law firm Beers Mallers Backs & Salin. Lindsey and Andrew are parents of an eight-year daughter.
