Fred Allen McGlothin
Mr. Fred Allen McGlothin, 66, Rochester was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 9:33 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at the IU-Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
On May 14, 1953, Fred was born in Rochester. He was a treasured son of Fred R. and Rosemary Holloway McGlothin. Growing up as one of the seven McGlothin kids he shared his childhood with four sisters and two brothers.
Gifted with his hand, he possessed many diverse skills. Fred was a carpenter and a member of Union Local # 615. He built a variety of commercial projects from jails and hospitals to industry. In more recent years he assisted M & M Irrigation with construction and repair of the irrigators. His memberships include Manitou VFW Post # 1343, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post # 36.
To relax, Fred enjoyed watching TV, especially Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, animal shows and westerns. Each summer he and his family attended the NHRA U.S. National Drag Races at the Lucas Oil Raceway near Indianapolis. His favorite driver was John Force. Fred was an avid IU basketball fan, always tuned in to the hurrying Hoosiers, especially during the Bobby Knight era.
Left to cherish Fred’s memory are a daughter Shelly Wagoner and husband Rich of Brownsburg; two sons: Fred A. McGlothin Jr. and wife Shannon, Bryce A. McGlothin and wife Britni, all of Rochester; eight grandchildren: Kyrsten Wagoner, Hannah Wagoner, Morganne Wagoner, Isaac Randall, Rachael Randall, Braxton McGlothin, Tarick McGlothin, Braycen McGlothin; three sisters: Connie Mitchell, Diana McGriff and husband Robert “Bob” and Brenda Kale and husband Donn; a brother, Jimmy McGlothin and wife Kim all of Rochester; several nieces and nephews; and treasured canine companions, Avery the Goldmatian, Lacey the Dalmatian and Fluppy a custom Beagle blend.
Preceding Fred in death are his parents,Fred and Rosemary McGlothin; a sister, Carol A. Bright; brother, John Ray McGlothin, grandson, Kaleb T. Wagoner, and a nephew, Brandon McGriff.
A celebration of the life of Mr. Fred A. McGlothin will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Mr. Ed Haines will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10 -1:30 on Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made the Rochester Little League, P.O.
