Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
8:29 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, South Country Club Road, north of East Winona Beach Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Amanda J. Sheets, 36, East CR 450S, Warsaw. Sheets was traveling north on Country Club Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
8:26 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, East CR 200N, east of North SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Nicholas J. Harman, 39, East Kyle Road, Pierceton. Harman was traveling west on East CR 200N when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
4:03 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, East CR 1100N, near North CR 1000E, South of Syracuse. Drivers: Bobbie J. Chidister, 63, Darden Road, South Bend; and Cheryl A. Gow, 63, West Orange Street, Cromwell. Chidister was traveling south on CR 1000E when she pulled into the intersection at CR 1100N, striking Gow’s vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $50,000.
8:06 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, North First Street, south of East US 30, Pierceton. Drivers: Sofia M. Carrillo, 29, East CR 200N 20, Warsaw; and Brian H. Hartman, 44, South Maple Street, Pierceton. Both drivers were traveling north on First Street when Carrillo’s vehicle rear-ended Hartman’s vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
3:14 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, West US 30, north of North CR 350W, Warsaw. Drivers: Olivia G. Childers, 16, Dayton Road, Mansfield, Tex.; and Adel H. Sweis, 47, 154th Place, Oak Forest, Ill. Childers was traveling north on North CR 350W and did not stop in the median because she did not see any westbound traffic on US 30. As she entered the westbound lanes, her vehicle was struck by Sweis’ vehicle. Childers’ vehicle overturned, coming to a rest on its driver’s side. No one was taken to the hospital for injuries. Damage up to $50,000.
11:36 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, South County Farm Road, south of East CR 450S, Warsaw. Driver: Benjamin D. Robbins, 40, West CR 600S, Claypool. Robbins was traveling south on County Farm Road when a deer entered the roadway. In an effort to avoid hitting the deer, Robbins drove his vehicle off the roadway, driving through a wooden fence at a residence owned by Bruce Howe. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, South Front Street and East Baltimore Street, south of 103 S. Front St., Syracuse. Driver: Sydney E. Miller, 26, East Divot Lane, Syracuse. Miller was traveling south on Front Street when she struck a pedestrian on a bicycle. The pedestrian, Lon D. White, 59, Syracuse, sustained a facial injury and was taken to Parkview Fort Wayne. Damage up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:16 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, SR 15, west of SR 25, Warsaw. Drivers: Troy W. Akers, 58, North Old Orchard Drive, Warsaw; and Estrella L. Rico, 19, West Winona Avenue, Warsaw. A witness said Akers was traveling north on SR 15 and entered an intersection with a red light, striking Rico’s vehicle. Akers complained of a hand injury but declined treatment at the scene. Rico was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for head pain. A passenger in Rico’s vehicle, Chatelaine Rico, 10, Warsaw, complained of abdominal and pelvic pain and was evaluated by medics at the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
5:06 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, US 30, near South CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert S. Bigelow, 54, Country Meadows Drive Southeast, Cleveland, Tenn.; and Brent L. Leichty, 65, 12th Road, Bourbon. Bigelow was traveling west on US 30 when he rear-ended Leichty’s vehicle. Leichty complained of back pain and a passenger in Leichty’s vehicle, Matthew Leichty, 18, Bourbon, complained of abdominal and pelvic pain. No one was taken to the hospital for injuries. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:21 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, Court Street, north of Administration Boulevard, Winona Lake. Driver: unknown. A vehicle sustained damage while it was parked on Court Street. Damage up to $5,000.
