NWS Issues Flood Watch Ahead Of Heavy Weekend Rain
NORTH WEBSTER — A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Kosciusko County and other parts of northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan from Friday night, Jan. 10, through Saturday evening.
NWS predicts widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will develop Friday evening and continue into Saturday evening. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are likely.
NWS advises flooding of low lying areas, along small creeks and streams is likely. Significant river flooding is expected to develop this weekend, extending into much of next week. Minor urban flooding is possible, said NWS, especially where storm drains are obstructed.
Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are likely across the watch area with locally higher amounts possible, the weather service said.
Rain is likely to begin Thursday evening. The overnight low will be 43.
Showers are expected to continue Friday with a high of 51 and a low of 40. Heavy rain is expected at night.
Heavy rain continues into Saturday with a high of 47 and a low of 24. Rain is expected to turn into freezing rain Saturday evening.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 35.
