TIPPECANOE VALLEY 59, CULVER COMMUNITY 41
The Vikings used a lopsided, 24-5 fourth quarter to put away Culver Community on the road Tuesday night.
Things looked bleak for Valley as it trailed by one at the end of three quarters, and senior Tanner Trippiedi picked up his fourth foul early in the fourth. But sophomores Dawson Perkins and D.J. Estep and freshmen Paul Leasure, Nolan Cumberland and Tayde Kiser played a great fourth frame to secure the win.
Perkins put up 20 points, including a thunderous put-back dunk, and Leasure put up another 20 with 14 in the final quarter. Cumberland added eight points, Estep scored four, Braden Shepherd added three, and Trippiedi and Kiser chipped in two each to round out the scoring for the Vikings as they snapped a five-game skid. They move to 3-7 and will travel to Northfield for a Three Rivers Conference game Friday before returning home to host Plymouth Saturday.
Valley’s JV won by a comfortable 51-14 margin. Brendyn Stump scored 17 points, and Chase Miller scored 16 to lead the JV Vikings.
WAWASEE 58, COLUMBIA CITY 52
Wawasee’s boys basketball team won their fourth straight with a victory over visiting Columbia City Tuesday night.
Austin Miller continued to pour it on with 20 points, but he was far from a one-man show as Ethan Hardy put up 13 points, and Keaton Dukes scored 11 points while passing out five assists for the Warriors, who converted 48 percent of their shots form the floor.
Michael Sievers scored 20, and Mitchell Wilson put up 16 to lead City.
The Warriors improved to 7-3. They’ll host NorthWood Friday night at 7:45 p.m. when the Wawasee Student Council will be raising money for Relay for Life.
The Warrior JV fell 52-43, meanwhile. Caden Welty and Landon Gause scored 11 apiece to pace Wawasee’s junior varsity.
NEW PRAIRIE 44, NORTHWOOD 42
NorthWood couldn’t come all the way back in a narrow loss to visiting New Prairie Tuesday night.
The Panthers trailed the Cougars 26-17 at halftime and 35-28 after three periods.
Trent Edwards put up a team-high 13 to lead NorthWood, and Ben Vincent gave the home team 10 points, while Brock Flickinger passed out four assists as the Panthers struggled with a 16-of-45 (35.6 percent) shooting clip from the floor.
Rylan McBride put up 16 points, and Braydon Flagg scored 14 to lead the Cougars.
NorthWood slips to 8-3 and will travel to Northern Lakes Conference foe Wawasee Friday night.
