Looking Back At Some Key Figures Who Passed Away In 2019
WARSAW — In 2019, the Kosciusko County community mourned the deaths of multiple prominent local figures. Below are a few of those.
George Louis Robertson, 71, passed away Feb. 23. He served as president of the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation for eight years.
Mitchell “Mitch” Ray Titus, 47, passed away May 5 following a workplace incident. He was the fire chief on the Winona Lake Fire department for over 10 years.
Cassius Alan Rovenstine, 81, passed away Oct. 10. He served two terms as Kosciusko County sheriff from 1979 to 1986 and from 1991 to 1998. He was also a longtime key figure in the county Republican Party.
Terry Alan Howie, 73, passed away Dec. 2 following an accident at his home. Howie, an influential figure in Winona Lake, served in various roles within the town. His roles served included District 2 representative on Winona Lake Town Council from 2007-2011 and as a town marshal from 1991-1995. He also owned and operated Howie Heating and Cooling until his passing.
Jeffery Smith Shriver, 53, passed away Dec. 18 following a valiant battle against cancer. He was a long-time teacher and football coach at Tippecanoe Valley High School in Akron.
